Partaking here, of your nook, I noticed the Quay brothers among your favorite film makers. Perhaps we have a kindred interest there because collecting unusual and fringe cinema is somewhat of a proclivity of mine.
If you have the patience for its lingering style, you might enjoy Tarkovsky's Stalker or the recent estonia film 'Temptation of Saint Tony'(though beware as it is unsubtle in its anticapitalist satire)
